Join a pioneering energy infrastructure team dedicated to driving significant change in the energy sector. Our client is on the forefront of embracing a sustainable future, focusing on innovative solutions for gas transmission and handling new green gases. The environment is undergoing a significant transformation, preparing existing systems for new energy carriers while gradually transitioning from a traditional on-prem Microsoft BI stack toward a modern Azure-based data and analytics platform.
You will work at the intersection of operational systems, data warehousing, and business intelligence, contributing to both day-to-day delivery and longer-term modernization initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain a central data warehouse supporting core business processes such as contracting, flow planning, invoicing, and data publication.
- Translate functional and technical requirements into robust dimensional data models, applying Kimball-style data warehousing principles.
- Build, optimize, and maintain ETL pipelines using Microsoft BI technologies, ensuring performance, reliability, and data quality.
- Develop and maintain semantic models using SSAS and Power BI, enabling consistent and reusable analytics across teams.
- Create, maintain, and evolve operational and analytical reports using SSRS.
- Prepare, execute, and validate releases within a governed deployment framework, including peer reviews and technical testing.
- Collaborate closely with the technical lead and fellow data engineers on solution design, code quality, and architectural consistency.
- Support end users by explaining data lineage, transformations, and reporting logic when needed.
- Participate actively in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement, and delivery.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, network, and database teams to resolve technical issues and support platform evolution.
What are we looking for?
- You have at least 5 years of experience working in agile Business Intelligence or data engineering teams.
- You demonstrate deep practical knowledge of Kimball data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
- You are highly proficient with relational databases and advanced data querying and investigation techniques.
- You have solid hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server–based data platforms, including SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
- You are comfortable working with semantic models and analytical layers in SSAS or Power BI.
- You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure analytics services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, or Azure Analysis Services.
- Experience working in governed environments using Git, branching strategies, and Azure DevOps deployment pipelines.
- Previous exposure to the energy sector or other regulated, infrastructure-heavy environments.
- Experience supporting business users in understanding and consuming data products.
- Working knowledge of Dutch and/or French..
