We are looking for a Medior Data Engineer to support ongoing data, cloud, analytics, and machine learning initiatives. You will help build and maintain the technical foundations that enable scalable data platforms across the organisation.

What You Will Do

  • Gather, consolidate, and prepare data for analytics and data engineering initiatives.
  • Build and maintain Cloud Data Architectures on AWS and/or Azure aligned with data governance strategy.
  • Translate business and IT strategy into cloud-based architectures aligned with target operating models.
  • Analyse high-level requirements, refine them into actionable deliverables, and assess related technical risks.
  • Develop specifications, documentation, technical procedures, and user support guides.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth system integration.
  • Maintain and update all relevant technical documentation.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support project set-up, deployment, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Perform quality assurance and test solutions before delivery to end users.
  • Capture lessons learned and implement improvement actions.
  • Share knowledge, train colleagues, and contribute to team development.

What are we looking for?

Core Data Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Strong experience with Python, Spark, Hive (or similar Big Data technologies).
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with relational and cloud databases.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools, data orchestration/scheduling, and DWH-on-Cloud solutions.
  • Experience with star-schema or Data Vault modelling (plus).

AWS:

  • Experience with CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
  • Knowledge of Step Functions / AWS Orchestrator.
  • Experience with Airflow and/or Kubernetes is a plus.
  • AWS Solution Architect Associate or Data Engineer certification is a plus.

Azure:

  • Experience in Azure environments.
  • Azure AZ-104 or DP-203 certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, ARM Templates, Terraform, and CI/CD principles.

Methodology

  • Agile mindset and experience working in Agile teams.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent professional experience).

Language Requirements

  • Fluent English
  • Good Dutch or French is preferred

What do we offer?

Location: Anderlecht (hybrid — minimum 2 days/week on-site; more on-site during onboarding)

Contract: Freelance or Permanent

Initial Term: 6 months (extension possible)
