Functional Test Engineer – SAP Projects

We’re looking for a Functional Test Engineer to strengthen the testing team on several large-scale IT projects in the utilities domain, focusing on changes to SAP S/4 and SAP R/3 (Univlam / IS-U) applications.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality and stability of business-critical systems that support energy distribution and asset management.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist the Test Coordinator with test planning and preparation.
  • Design detailed test cases and test data for functional and technical testing (including interface, fail-over, and performance tests).
  • Collaborate with business analysts, key users, and designers to refine test scenarios.
  • Execute tests and support other testers across teams (designers, business analysts, business users).
  • Perform initial defect analysis and follow up on resolutions — supporting troubleshooting where needed.
  • Document all test activities in JIRA and report progress to the Test Coordinator.
  • Potentially support testing in other ongoing or maintenance projects.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Test Specialist.
  • Proven experience with JIRA for test documentation and follow-up.
  • Strong knowledge of formal test methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in SAP testing environments (SAP S/4, SAP R/3).
  • Experience testing asset management data and related business processes.
  • Dutch fluency (CEFR C2).

Should-Have Skills

  • Experience as a tester in Agile/Scrum projects.
  • Experience writing test scenarios and test scripts.
  • Strong background in testing web applications.
  • Experience with SAP IS-U (Utilities).
  • Knowledge of UML / Use Case modeling.
  • Familiarity with test automation or scripting tools.
  • Knowledge of meter management processes in the Belgian energy market.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Familiarity with SAP PM (Plant Maintenance).

Location: Melle (Brusselsesteenweg 199) – Hybrid possible

Start Date: 17 November 2025

Duration: Initial 12 months (extension possible)

Workload: Full-time (100%)

Contract Type: Freelance or Permanent
