As an Expert QA/Test Automation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in a large-scale digital modernization program, building a fully cloud-native, microservice-based platform. You’ll design, implement, and automate end-to-end testing strategies that guarantee software quality, security, and reliability across distributed systems. This is a hands-on engineering role within a high-competence, collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a comprehensive test strategy covering functional, integration, performance, and security aspects.
  • Design and maintain automated test suites across APIs, microservices, and user interfaces.
  • Conduct API testing (functional, load, contract, and compatibility) within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Execute performance, stress, and scalability tests to ensure system stability.
  • Develop and run security tests focused on authentication, authorization, and encryption.
  • Implement monitoring and observability practices to ensure continuous feedback and quality visibility.
  • Integrate test automation seamlessly into DevOps pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).
  • Use scripting languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, Bash/PowerShell) to build and extend test frameworks.

What are we looking for?

Core Expertise

  • 10+ years of hands-on software testing experience.
  • Strong background in cloud-native testing, ideally in Azure environments.
  • Deep knowledge of test automation and continuous integration practices.
  • Skilled in API testing tools (e.g., Bruno, Postman) and UI test frameworks (e.g., Cypress).
  • Experience with unit, regression, and integration testing (JUnit, Cucumber).
  • Proven ability with performance testing (JMeter, Gatling).
  • Experience in test-driven development (TDD) and contract testing / mocking.
  • Solid understanding of version control and code quality tools (Git, pull requests, code reviews).
  • Exposure to monitoring/observability tools (Grafana or similar).
  • Practical experience with NoSQL databases and build tools (Maven).

Programming & Scripting

  • Proficient in Java SE, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of Bash or PowerShell for automation scripting.

Security & Infrastructure

  • Understanding of security testing, Zero-Trust principles, and microservice architectures.

Languages

  • Dutch, French AND English required 

Education

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline (mandatory).

Start date: 1 December 2025

End date: 30 November 2026 (extension likely)

Work regime: Full-time (40h/week)

Work location: Brussels, hybrid (minimum 3 days/week on-site)

Contract terms: Freelance or Permanent
