We are looking for a Data Governance & AI Officer to help shape the organization’s data transformation and ensure that data and AI are managed responsibly, transparently, and in compliance with European regulations. You’ll join a newly established Data Office, positioned outside of IT, whose mission is to generate business value from data. Your mission is to strengthen the Data Governance unit by developing and implementing a robust, scalable governance framework that supports both regulatory compliance and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and operating guidelines.
- Develop a business glossary and maintain metadata documentation across business domains.
- Identify and document golden data sources, ensuring traceability through a centralized data catalog.
- Establish a data quality framework to define rules, monitor quality scores, and communicate metrics via dashboards.
- Align governance structures with GDPR and upcoming EU Data Act requirements.
- Design and implement an AI governance framework compliant with the EU AI Act.
- Contribute to the selection and implementation of a new data governance and quality tool (RFP management, vendor evaluation).
What are we looking for?
Must-Have Skills
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (Data Management, Information Systems, Law, or similar).
- At least 5 years of experience in Data Governance roles.
- Proven experience in building and operationalizing data governance and data quality frameworks.
- Hands-on experience drafting policies, guidelines, and foundational governance documents.
- Strong knowledge of data regulations such as GDPR and the EU Data Act.
- Experience managing or participating in RFP processes.
- Familiarity with AI governance and EU AI Act implementation principles.
- Fluency in English and either French or Dutch (with good command of the second language).
Nice-to-Have
- Experience implementing or configuring a data governance tool (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Ataccama, Alation).
- Background in the energy or financial sector.
