As a Senior Full-Stack Developer, you’ll contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of modern Java applications supporting environmental and geodata management. You’ll join an agile development team working on new web solutions and the evolution of existing systems. Beyond development, you’ll help shape an API-first strategy, ensuring scalability and interoperability across data services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable software using Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
- Contribute to API-first application design and data-driven integrations.
- Implement and test solutions based on functional and technical analyses.
- Participate in all Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews).
- Collaborate closely with analysts, testers, and business stakeholders to refine requirements.
- Maintain and evolve existing web applications while contributing to new initiatives.
- Write clean, testable code and apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles.
- Ensure code quality through JUnit / AssertJ testing and Git-based version control.
- Support continuous improvement of development processes and technical documentation.
- Share knowledge and coach less-experienced developers within the team.
What are we looking for?
Education
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent higher education (short or long type), obtained from a recognized European college or university (mandatory).
Core Expertise
- 5+ years of professional experience developing Java-based applications.
- Proven hands-on experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of REST API design and implementation.
- Proficiency with JPA / Hibernate for data persistence.
- Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
- Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, AssertJ) and TDD.
- Knowledge of build tools (Maven) and version control (Git).
Web & Front-End Development
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for full-stack delivery.
- Exposure to GWT or similar component-based frameworks is a plus.
- Experience with SQL databases, ideally PostgreSQL with the PostGIS extension.
- Understanding of data modelling and geospatial data is an asset.
Languages
- Dutch: Fluent (CEFR C2 – required)

End date: 31 July 2026 (extension possible)
Work regime: Full-time (40h/week)
Work location: Zwijnaarde (hybrid, min. 2 days/week on-site)
