You will join a Security Engineering team responsible for protecting and evolving a large, complex network environment. The team focuses on network security, perimeter protection, secure connectivity, and incident response, working closely with other security and infrastructure teams.
As a Network Security Engineer, you focus on safeguarding the organization’s core network infrastructure. You continuously improve the security posture of routing, firewalling, remote access, and traffic management components. You operate at the intersection of networking and security, contributing to incident response, change management, and long-term improvements. While your primary focus is network security, you collaborate closely with other security teams and are open to expanding your knowledge across adjacent security domains.
What you’ll do- You ensure the ongoing security and stability of central network environments.
- You manage and evolve a multi-layer firewall landscape protecting thousands of networks.
- You maintain and lifecycle-manage DNS, domains, and public CA certificates.
- You support and maintain reverse proxies used for load balancing, redirects, and logging.
- You manage multiple VPN solutions used by employees, externals, and third parties.
- You analyze security logs and events and efficiently query log data using Splunk.
- You actively participate in handling security incidents with network impact.
- You triage, categorize, prioritize, and investigate security events and requests via ticketing.
- You collaborate with other teams to improve security tooling, processes, and procedures.
- You contribute to security-related projects and continuous improvements.
What are we looking for?
- You have at least 1 initial professional experience in network security and are motivated to grow further in this domain
- You have experience with network infrastructure and system configurations in complex environments.
- You have experience with enterprise firewall solutions, including Palo Alto Networks (Panorama).
- You are familiar with routing and switching concepts and LAN/WAN protocols.
- You have experience with DNS management and certificate management, including bulk operations.
- You have worked with VPN technologies such as GlobalProtect and secure remote access solutions.
- Experience with tools such as Infoblox, F5 BIG-IP, Fortigate, or similar platforms is a strong plus.
- You are comfortable working with log sources and security monitoring, including Splunk.
- You are familiar with ITSM-based ways of working and ticket handling.
- You are fluent in Dutch (CEFR C2).
