We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager – Regulatory Projects to lead key initiatives ensuring that life insurance products, systems, and processes remain fully compliant with evolving regulatory frameworks such as Solvency II, IDD, ESG, and AML. You’ll act as the critical link between business, compliance, and IT teams — translating regulatory requirements into pragmatic, customer-centric solutions while driving operational excellence and risk control.
This role requires a strategic mindset, strong stakeholder alignment skills, and the ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Manage end-to-end delivery of regulatory projects from scoping to post-implementation review.
- Define project plans, budgets, resource allocations, and timelines.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Business, Legal, Compliance, Actuarial, and IT.
- Ensure all deliverables align with corporate governance and quality standards.
Regulatory Translation & Impact Analysis
- Translate new regulatory requirements into actionable business and technical changes.
- Conduct impact assessments across products, processes, and systems.
- Propose and implement mitigation strategies for identified risks or compliance gaps.
Product & Process Adaptation
- Collaborate with Product Owners to update life insurance offerings in line with regulatory changes.
- Ensure customer documentation, disclosures, and journeys comply with POG (Product Oversight & Governance) guidelines.
- Support testing and validation of updated systems and process flows.
Risk & Compliance Alignment
- Liaise with Compliance and Risk teams to validate project scope and deliverables.
- Monitor regulatory timelines and ensure timely execution of required adaptations.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal/external reviews.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide structured updates to senior management and governance committees.
- Prepare reports and dashboards on progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Act as a point of contact for audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries.
What are we looking for?
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in project or product management within life insurance or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian/EU regulatory frameworks (FSMA, NBB, Solvency II, IDD, ESG, AML).
- Proven track record of delivering regulatory or compliance-related transformation projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and change management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and drive alignment across departments.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Languages: Fluent in French or Dutch, with professional proficiency in English.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Certification in project management (PMP, Prince2, or Agile).
- Experience in projects related to commercial, distribution, or product governance within insurance.
- Understanding of risk frameworks and audit processes in financial institutions.
