You will operate in a large, enterprise retail environment where replenishment, transport, and logistics platforms are critical to daily operations. The role focuses on solution architecture with a 6–18 month delivery horizon, covering everything from requirements intake to architectural decisions, delivery guidance, and release.
This is not an enterprise architecture role. You will work close to delivery, collaborating with business leaders, IT domain leads, and engineering teams to design and govern solutions that support retail supply-chain operations while aligning with enterprise standards across a broader group ecosystem.
Your responsibilities include
- Translating business needs into end-to-end solution architectures for supply-chain platforms.
- Defining architectural options, evaluating trade-offs, and making concrete technical decisions.
- Designing integration patterns using APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging, and microservices.
- Providing architectural support across the full lifecycle: requirements, design, delivery, and release.
- Ensuring cross-domain alignment with finance, commerce, master data, and e-commerce platforms.
- Producing clear architectural models and documentation to support project execution.
- Managing architecture baselines, target states, transition states, and ADRs.
- Embedding security-by-design, compliance, and risk awareness in all solutions.
- Participating in architecture and design reviews to ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
- Supporting vendor evaluations, RFPs, and technology assessments for supply-chain platforms.
- Acting as a technical leader and mentor, guiding teams through complex transformations.
- Balancing architectural quality with budget constraints, TCO, and technical-debt management.
What are we looking for?
- You have 3–5 years of experience as a Solution Architect in complex IT environments.
- You have strong experience designing architectures for retail and supply-chain systems.
- You have experience translating business requirements into architectural deliverables.
- You understand and apply cloud technologies, with Azure as the preferred platform.
- You have solid knowledge of networking, virtualisation, and storage concepts.
- You have experience with microservices, API management, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- You have experience integrating WMS, TMS, ERP, or MMS systems.
- You understand data models, data warehousing, data governance, and data security.
- You are familiar with Agile or SAFe delivery models.
- You have experience using enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman).
- You are proficient in modelling languages such as ArchiMate and UML.
- You have hands-on experience with EA tools such as BizzDesign.
- You have a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and compliance frameworks.
- You are able to embed security-by-design in solution architectures.
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- You are fluent in English AND Dutch or French,
