As a Senior Offensive Security Engineer, you strengthen the cybersecurity posture of the organisation by proactively searching for vulnerabilities, analysing threats, and supporting incident response. You work closely with the external 24/7 SOC, act with a hacker mindset, and continuously assess the attack surface to identify and mitigate risks.

You play a crucial role in threat detection, incident analysis and remediation, while also contributing to the improvement of security processes, tooling and governance. You collaborate with infrastructure, network, application and operations teams to ensure a secure, resilient environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyse threats, vulnerabilities and attack vectors.
  • Perform vulnerability scanning, manual pentesting and attack surface assessments.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, including phishing cases.
  • Follow up on alerts and incidents detected by the external SOC.
  • Trigger CSIRT processes when needed and support incident coordination.
  • Manage and optimise security governance and operational processes.
  • Report security KPIs and propose improvements.
  • Act as the primary operational contact for the external SOC provider.
  • Participate in continuous improvement for detection, response and recovery.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or equivalent through experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience as a Security Consultant in data, infrastructure or application environments.
  • Demonstrated experience analysing, optimising and documenting security processes and governance.
  • Expertise in vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and offensive security tooling.
  • Strong knowledge of SIEM/SOC workflows and hands-on operational SOC experience.
  • Good understanding of telecom and network infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, topologies and architectures.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and pentesting tools.
  • Experience with MS 365 security components.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27000, COBIT, NIST, OWASP or CIS Controls.
  • Professional certifications relevant to cybersecurity (e.g. CISM, CISSP, CEH) are a strong plus.
  • Experience working with public sector environments is a plus.
  • Experience with Pentera is a plus.
  • You are proficient in Dutch at CEFR level C2.
