Join one of Belgium’s most exciting AI scale-ups at the forefront of innovation in industrial automation by building a rapidly growing, global Artificial Intelligence Platform Provider (PaaS) focused on enabling sophisticated, automated visual intelligence across industrial sectors. We are looking for a highly strategic Architect to take ownership of our core platform's technical roadmap, ensuring its design is resilient, scalable, and optimized for the unique challenges of Computer Vision and industrial deployment.

This is a key leadership role where you will define the standards that govern our engineering output and accelerate our mission to be the backbone of industrial automation

What You'll Be Doing:

Your primary responsibility is to ensure the platform’s architecture meets the high demands of Vision AI and large-scale MLOps.

  • Architectural Ownership: Define the long-term technical vision for our core platform, designing systems specifically optimized for high-throughput visual data processing (images, video) and low-latency inference in hybrid environments (Cloud, On-Premise, Edge).
  • MLOps Governance: Establish the architectural patterns and MLOps principles for the automated lifecycle management of Computer Vision models (e.g., training, deployment, monitoring), ensuring efficiency, traceability, and operational excellence at scale.
  • Quality & Scalability Authority: Act as the final technical reviewer, challenging and approving designs to rigorously protect critical non-functional requirements.
  • Technology Leadership: Evaluate and integrate new technologies (e.g., distributed caching, high-performance computing components) via Proof of Concepts (POCs) to push the platform's capabilities forward.
  • Hands-On Guidance: Provide high-level technical coaching and mentorship to development teams, setting high standards for clean code, API design, and distributed systems implementation.

What are we looking for?

  • You hold a Master's degree and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in system architecture for data-intensive or distributed computing platforms.
  • Vision AI Domain Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience designing and optimizing systems that specifically handle Computer Vision models (YOLO, R-CNN, ViT) and their associated data pipelines. Experience with LLM/GenAI/NLP alone is not sufficient for this role.
  • Containerized Orchestration: Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, configuration, and operational best practices for both cloud and on-premise deployments.
  • Modern Python Ecosystem Fluency: Deep practical knowledge of designing, coding, and optimizing production-grade backends using modern Python frameworks (FastAPI, AsyncIO) to build scalable API services.
  • Distributed Systems and Data: Wide experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and modern data technologies (PostgreSQL, Kafka).
  • Guard Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs): Champion and enforce NFRs such as security, maintainability, scalability, and performance, with a specific focus on optimizing the run-time efficiency of PyTorch or TensorFlow models in production environments.
  • SDLC Ownership: Comprehensive experience with the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) from concept design through deployment, including expertise in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Proficiency in a compiled language like Rust or Go for designing performance-critical components.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation, cameras, optics, or edge computing constraints.
  • Knowledge of Dutch
