We are looking for an experienced Application Technical Lead to take end-to-end technical ownership of a critical application portfolio. You will work within a dedicated application team and collaborate closely with developers, analysts, functional experts, the portfolio architect, and Infrastructure & Operations teams.
This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, making it ideal for a senior engineer who wants to shape system design, coach a team, and influence architectural decisions while still coding on a weekly basis.
What you'll do
- Lead and coach the development team to maintain high engineering standards and strong technical execution.
- Take technical ownership of all software systems within the application team, ensuring stability, maintainability and alignment with the broader architecture.
- Develop complex features, write high-quality code, fix defects and contribute directly to the technical delivery.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation for releases, covering infrastructure needs, configuration changes and deployment guidelines.
- Submit and follow up configuration change requests to Infrastructure & Operations to guarantee stable environments.
- Design scalable, reliable and maintainable systems, respecting architectural principles and complementing enterprise guidelines.
- Analyse requirements with functional analysts and translate them into robust technical designs.
- Perform in-depth code reviews, enforce best practices and safeguard the overall code quality.
- Monitor system performance and drive continuous performance optimisation.
- Integrate security best practices (OWASP, OAuth, OpenID, Zero Trust) in every development phase.
- Evaluate new technologies and propose relevant improvements that strengthen system capabilities.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, support incident resolution and ensure operational continuity.
- Align closely with the portfolio architect to keep the solution consistent with enterprise architecture while making complementary technical choices where needed.
What are we looking for?
- You have at least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, including senior-level responsibilities.
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- You apply strong hands-on experience building and maintaining ASP.NET Web API and ASP.NET Core Web API for business-critical applications.
- You design and implement large-scale solutions using .NET Core and .NET Framework.
- You build secure integrations and services using REST APIs, OAuth, OpenID and other modern authentication standards.
- You work confidently with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions and Azure Service Bus.
- You manage version control and CI/CD workflows using Git and related DevOps tooling.
- You apply software design patterns and engineering best practices consistently across teams.
- You have strong knowledge of SQL, relational data modelling and performance tuning.
- You write maintainable, well-tested code and work with unit testing frameworks as part of your development workflow.
- Experience with Blazor, modern frontend components or hybrid frontend-backend development.
- Experience with server management or deployment in enterprise environments.
- Experience creating automated monitoring, logging and troubleshooting workflows.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery processes and working in cross-functional teams.
Language Requirements
- You are fluent in Dutch OR French, and have a very good level of English.
