As an Application Engineer, you’ll take ownership of a set of business-critical applications built within a distributed microservices architecture. You’ll combine technical application management with hands-on support in .NET, Java, and Quarkus (Apache Camel) environments.
You’ll act as the link between development and operations, ensuring stable performance, efficient troubleshooting, and smooth deployments. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who thrives on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support applications running in a microservices architecture.
- Troubleshoot incidents and coordinate 3rd-line application support.
- Collaborate with developers to deploy, optimize, and maintain services built in .NET, Java, and Quarkus.
- Monitor application performance and availability, taking proactive measures to improve reliability.
- Participate in technical implementations and upgrades.
- Document solutions, configurations, and operational best practices.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in the CI/CD pipeline and DevOps workflows.
What are we looking for?
Must-Have Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in application support or development.
- Proven experience with SOA or Microservices architectures.
- Strong development experience in Java and/or .NET.
- Solid experience in troubleshooting, incident, and problem management (3rd line).
- Fluent in Dutch (CEFR level C2) – written and spoken.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with Kubernetes (OpenShift).
- Experience with SQL Server DBA tasks.
- Knowledge of ELK Stack for monitoring/log management.
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence or Azure DevOps for ticketing and collaboration.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
