Join an organization that is dedicated to embedding User Experience (UX) as a fundamental aspect of its operations. This opportunity is ideal for a Senior UX Consultant eager to make an impact in enhancing user experience and establishing governance frameworks. You will help embed User Experience (UX) as a core capability across a large digital organization, covering both internal applications and customer-facing digital products.

Your role combines hands-on UX delivery in active projects with strategic advisory work to build UX maturity, governance, and best practices.

Your responsibilities include

  • Designing and validating user-centered solutions for internal users and external customers.
  • Conducting and facilitating UX research activities, including interviews, usability testing, and field studies.
  • Translating research insights into personas, user journeys, and service blueprints.
  • Creating wireframes, prototypes, and validation artefacts to support decision-making.
  • Ensuring UX quality and consistency across projects, releases, and digital touchpoints.
  • Collaborating closely with product owners, business architects, developers, and stakeholders in Agile teams.
  • Coaching and mentoring teams on UX principles, methods, and best practices.
  • Supporting the definition and adoption of UX roles, responsibilities, and ways of working.
  • Contributing to UX vision, principles, standards, and governance models.
  • Supporting the development and evolution of design systems, guidelines, and reusable patterns.
  • Embedding UX activities into discovery, backlog refinement, development, and validation processes.
  • Balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints in design decisions.

What are we looking for?

  • You have 8–10+ years of professional experience in UX, service design, or product design.
  • You have proven experience working in complex organizations and digital transformation contexts.
  • You have hands-on experience with both customer-facing and internal digital products.
  • You have a strong track record in building UX maturity, governance, or best practices within organizations.
  • You have experience in a consulting or advisory role.
  • You are proficient with UX research and design tools.
  • You are able to influence stakeholders using data, insights, and experience.
  • You are familiar with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe frameworks.
  • You are fluent in Dutch or French, and have a good working knowledge of English.
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with CMS platforms, such as Magnolia.
  • UX-related certifications (e.g. Nielsen Norman Group, Human Factors International).
  • Experience defining or scaling design systems.
  • Experience in regulated or public-service environments.

Work mode: Hybrid

Onsite presence: Minimum 3 days per week onsite

Increased onsite presence required during onboarding

Contract type:  Freelance or Permanent

Initial duration: 6 months (extension possible)
