Join an experienced ICT infrastructure public service team responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of enterprise database environments.
As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, you’ll manage, optimize, and evolve mission-critical Oracle databases supporting complex applications and large-scale data processes.
This role is ideal for a database professional with deep Oracle expertise who enjoys problem-solving, precision, and maintaining high standards of reliability.
Your Role
- You ensure the daily operation and monitoring of Oracle databases, including backups, performance, and availability.
- You design, install, configure, and document new databases or major changes to existing ones.
- You manage database security, user access, and compliance with internal IT policies.
- You handle patching, migration, and troubleshooting for database environments (Oracle 12c, 18c, 19c).
- You oversee backup management using RMAN and validate recovery processes.
- You work with distributed Oracle environments (replication, log shipping, etc.).
- You use Oracle Enterprise Manager and other DBA tools to monitor and optimize performance.
- You collaborate closely with infrastructure and application teams to support production environments.
What are we looking for?
Must-Have Skills
- 5+ years of proven, full-time experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA).
- Strong expertise with Oracle 12c, 18c, 19c databases.
- Solid experience managing Oracle users, logins, access rights, and security.
- Proven experience with RMAN backups, recovery strategies, and monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager.
- Familiarity with distributed Oracle environments (replication, log shipping, etc.).
- Experience installing and migrating Oracle client and server software.
- Proficiency in Oracle troubleshooting and using Oracle Support.
- Language requirement: Dutch (C2) mandatory for collaboration and reporting; English (B2) for technical communication.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with SQL and PL/SQL development.
- Knowledge of database tuning and SQL optimization.
- Exposure to Oracle Spatial, Oracle Text, or Oracle Partitioning.
- Experience managing PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server databases.
- Basic knowledge of Linux and bash scripting.
- Familiarity with central storage systems used with enterprise databases.
