Data Governance Project Coordinator – Data Catalogue (Collibra)
Brussels-Capital
Digital - Data
Reference number: 92140

You will join a data governance and compliance team working at the heart of a large-scale data transformation. The organization has invested in a Data Catalogue and Classification platform (Collibra) and is now moving from tooling to real adoption.

Your role sits at the intersection of data, governance, and coordination. You are not expected to be a deep technical implementer or a pure project manager. Instead, you act as the driver and connector who ensures that data assets are properly identified, documented, validated, and made usable across the organization.

What you’ll do

  • You take ownership of the organization, coordination, and progress tracking of the Data Catalogue and Classification program.
  • You identify data stores that need to be catalogued and prioritize them in a clear backlog based on agreed governance and business priorities.
  • You engage with the teams responsible for those data stores, create awareness, and ensure that cataloguing activities are properly planned in their delivery cycles.
  • You coordinate the onboarding of datasets and related artefacts into Collibra, working with supporting IT and data teams.
  • You facilitate workshops when needed to help teams move forward or clarify expectations around data documentation and classification.
  • You ensure the validation and quality of the catalogued content together with the responsible teams.
  • You report on progress, risks, and dependencies to management and governance bodies, and you handle escalations together with the Data Governance Centre of Excellence.
  • You contribute to the steering and continuous improvement of data governance processes, ensuring alignment with group-level principles.
  • You act as the bridge between data governance experts and day-to-day data users, translating governance concepts into practical guidance.

What are we looking for?

  • You have experience in data governance, data management, or data-related project coordination, and you are comfortable working with data concepts rather than just project plans.
  • You have hands-on experience with Collibra, including Data Catalogue and (ideally) Automatic Classification. This is a must-have.
  • You understand data from a logical and technical perspective, including concepts such as logical data models, entities, attributes, and data relationships.
  • You are comfortable preparing content proactively, based on your data knowledge, to support teams in documenting their data assets.
  • You have 1–3+ years of experience in a data governance, data coordination, or project management role.
  • You work well in agile or iterative environments and are comfortable collaborating across many teams and stakeholders.
  • You communicate clearly, adapt your message to your audience, and are able to explain governance topics without unnecessary jargon.
  • You are pragmatic, solution-oriented, and able to move forward even when information is incomplete.
  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a strong asset.
  • You hold a master’s degree in IT, Engineering, Business Engineering, or have equivalent relevant experience.
