We’re looking for a Data Architect to design and maintain a consolidated, organization-wide data model that supports high-quality, sustainable applications and data governance.
You’ll take the lead in structuring how data flows through the organization — from definition and cataloging to governance and architecture integration — ensuring reliability, integrity, and long-term scalability.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the mapping of data flows and data objects across the organization (both technical and business).
- Develop and maintain a data catalog, conceptual data model, and enterprise-wide data flow overview.
- Ensure continuity and quality of these deliverables to meet evolving business needs.
- Co-develop and maintain the enterprise architecture with a focus on data and information domains.
- Define and communicate data methodologies, standards, and governance frameworks (e.g. DMBOK).
- Support strategic decisions through impact analyses and scenario evaluations.
- Contribute to the target architecture and ensure alignment with business and IT objectives.
- Participate in defining transformation programs, business cases, RFPs, and proofs of concept.
- Safeguard data integrity and information security, identifying and mitigating risks related to confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Collaborate closely with architects, DBAs, and analysts to ensure architectural consistency.
- Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and trends.
- Coach and guide colleagues in applying data architecture principles and governance standards.
What are we looking for?
- Proven experience in data architecture governance and data modeling.
- Strong analytical and strategic mindset; able to perform impact analysis and evaluate scenarios.
- Solid technical background and ability to engage meaningfully with IT experts.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills; capable of promoting data governance adoption.
- Excellent communication and structure; able to translate complexity for business and IT audiences.
- Experience in change management and supporting transformation initiatives.
- Collaborative mindset — works effectively across roles (architects, PMs, analysts, developers).
- Experience in the public sector or social security domain.
- Familiarity with pension systems or Belgian administrative processes.
- Knowledge of DMBOK or similar data architecture frameworks.
Applicants are asked to include a short slide deck describing their view on Data Governance and a high-level plan for gradually increasing data governance maturity within an organization.
