Our client, a leading research organization in the energy and materials sector, is seeking an experienced engineer to support the technical implementation of specialized waste processing and storage facilities.

This role focuses on the full technical lifecycle of installation design, including electrical configuration, process automation, and the execution of critical system validations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Configure and build electrical and process automation control cabinets in alignment with installation designs.
  • Oversee quality control for cabling, field components, and connections in collaboration with electrical technicians.
  • Develop PLC programs for waste process operations according to established organizational standards.
  • Lead the verification and validation of system functionalities, including the preparation and execution of Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Advise project and mechanical engineers on hardware and software specifications and component selection.
  • Manage technical documentation including as-built files, cabinet layouts, I/O lists, and equipment manuals.
  • Provide technical training to production teams for newly implemented installations.
  • Coordinate the transition of operational waste installations to the permanent organization.

What are we looking for?

  • You have 3+ years experience in electrical engineering or instrumentation and control (A1 level).
  • You possess advanced experience with E-plan Electric P8 for cabinet design and documentation.
  • You have 3+ years experience in industrial automation with Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, SCADA, and HMI configuration.
  • You bring experience in performing Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and preparing related technical documentation.
  • You have a strong command of MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • You are fluent in Dutch AND English (C1 or C2 level).
  • You're comfortable working in a regulated technical environment.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience working within nuclear or highly regulated industrial environments.
  • Proven ability to perform functional analyses.
  • Willingness to work independently on-site for testing phases.

  • Duration: Until the end of 2027 (with potential on-call extensions).
  • Work regime: Part-time (initially 2 days per week, increasing during testing phases).
  • Location: Mol
  • Working model: Hybrid (flexible, except during SAT testing periods).
  • Contract: open to both permanent employees and freelancers
