We’re looking for a Junior Functional Analyst (GIS) to join a growing team supporting and expanding digital mapping and spatial applications for the City of Ghent.
You’ll work on functional analysis, integration, and support activities within the GIS landscape, contributing to the evolution of critical applications that support urban operations and geospatial data management.
What You’ll Do
- Perform functional analyses for GIS-related changes and projects.
- Provide 2nd-line support and resolve user issues in collaboration with development teams.
- Contribute to the testing and validation of new functionalities.
- Support daily GIS operations, including monitoring and maintenance.
- Propose solutions and optimizations to improve application performance.
- Collaborate closely with analysts, developers, and city departments to ensure smooth integration across applications.
- Document processes, user stories, and requirements using Confluence and Jira.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Functional Analyst in technical environments.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, FME, and API integrations.
- Experience working with open standards (OGC) and Geoserver.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Understanding of functional integration between systems and applications.
- Knowledge of data and process modeling techniques.
- Fluent in Dutch (C2 level).
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with local or regional government projects.
- Familiarity with spatial planning and permit management (e.g. vergunningenregister, omgevingsvergunningen).
- Knowledge of UML, OO analysis, or Client/Server design principles.
