End-to-end Designer Telecom / Fiber

Digital - Civil and Construction
Bachelor, Master
Work experience: 0-3
Reference number: 91516

As a Network Infrastructure Designer, you take end-to-end ownership of designing, updating and optimising the fixed network infrastructure (fiber and copper). You translate technical triggers — such as network extensions, upgrades, roadworks or customer projects — into robust, cost-efficient designs that can be executed smoothly by the construction teams. You ensure that each design is technically correct, well documented and aligned with broader network evolution plans.

You work independently, coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, and provide support throughout the full lifecycle of the design file — from initial study to final documentation after construction.

What you will do

  • You analyse internal and external triggers — such as network optimisation needs, infrastructure renewal, housing developments, industrial zones, roadworks or customer requests — and develop technical solutions for fiber and copper network adaptations.
  • You optimise your designs for operational efficiency, material usage and total cost, while considering other potential impacts in the surrounding area.
  • You translate global studies into complete, detailed design files with accurate drawings, documentation and data updates.
  • Once construction teams take over, you provide clarifications and answer technical questions.
  • After completion, you validate and release final documentation and update network databases.
  • Depending on your experience, you may also coach colleagues, coordinate design work for specific project categories or take ownership of certain internal tools used by the team.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications networks and customer connectivity
  • Ability to analyse technical problems from multiple angles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using AutoCAD for technical drawings
  • Good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Experience managing complete design files from concept to final documentation
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders
  • Language requirement depending on location: Dutch or French (very good)
  • Good understanding of English (reading and technical comprehension)
Nice-to-have skills
  • Experience with GIS tools (QGIS is an advantage)
  • Familiarity with network design or workflow tools used in telecom environments
  • Experience coordinating small sub-domains (e.g., major roadworks, POR areas)
  • Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues
